Church of Our Lady of the Field

Amidst natural landscapes, hidden lakes, and rocky plateaus, the Navelli Plain unfolds like a painting where small villages blend harmoniously with the scenery. Along the ancient drover's road that connected L'Aquila to Foggia, stands the church of Madonna del Campo, an example of pastoral architecture linked to transhumance.

Likely built in the 16th century, the structure features a simple façade with a horizontal crowning, an arcaded portico, and a single nave decorated in neoclassical style, with an altar dating to the late 18th century. Set amidst cultivated fields, it is currently unusable due to earthquake damage, but it remains a prominent feature of the landscape, a testament to Abruzzese society of times past.
