A day between two fortified villages that remain in perfect harmony with the landscape: in the morning an orienteering race through the streets of the medieval village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, in the afternoon a storytelling walk through the historic alleyways of Calascio, amidst legends, traditions and anecdotes.

Mappa, bussola e lanterne per attraversare un territorio dove si sente ancora l’eco dei racconti sulle streghe e delle antiche credenze popolari. Nel pomeriggio un sentiero del Parco porta alle Capanne in Pietra, dove chi abita questi luoghi racconta la propria scelta di vita.

In addition to the lanterns, a strange mechanism is sought: the wooden locks of San Benedetto, unique in Italy and perhaps in Europe. In the afternoon, you go up to Sidera Tredecim Collis Petri, a viewpoint from which the guardian of the storytelling village recounts traditions and memories.

In the heart of the Tirino Valley, on the trail of the lanterns: from Castello Piccolomini, which dominates the valley, to the alleyways of the historic centre, following in the footsteps of Saint John of Capestrano. In the afternoon, Ofena, an ancient Vestini town, with a storytelling walk through its streets and olive groves.

Orienteering ai piedi di un’antica fortificazione e, a seguire, la visita all’Oratorio di Bominaco e ai suoi affreschi mozzafiato. Nel pomeriggio si sale al Castello di Bominaco, per scoprire come l’antico insediamento abbia controllato e protetto questo territorio.

L’autunno sull’Altopiano di Navelli, tra colori caldi e atmosfere rarefatte. Dopo l’orienteering del mattino e la colazione con i sapori della tradizione abruzzese, a Barisciano una passeggiata narrante tra radici storiche e archeologiche, racconti di antichi popoli e tratturi.

Si chiude il ciclo autunnale nella patria dello Zafferano dell’Aquila DOP, con l’orienteering nella Piana di Navelli. Nel pomeriggio Civitaretenga: i segreti dell’oro rosso, i segni della presenza longobarda e la storia del ghetto ebraico.
