The Church of San Nicola di Bari is the mother church of Calascio and is located in the heart of the medieval village, in Piazza della Vittoria. Its origins date back to the 14th century, but the building has undergone several renovations over the centuries, especially after the 1703 earthquake that hit the area hard. The sober and elegant façade features a Renaissance portal and a bell tower with a spire. The interior, divided into three naves, houses valuable works including a 17th-century wooden pulpit and 18th-century paintings of the Abruzzo school. After restoration following the 2009 earthquake, the church was reopened in 2021, once again becoming the main place of worship and reference for the community.
