Carpelle Calvisio
Carapelle Calvisio is one of the smallest and most charming villages in the Abruzzese Apennines. Located within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, this tiny village still retains the intimate and silent atmosphere of mountain villages where time seems to flow more slowly.
The historic centre retains a compact and evocative medieval layout, characterised by stone houses huddled together, arches, narrow passages and small squares that tell the story of a community deeply connected to the mountains.
For centuries, the life of the village has been dictated by sheep farming and transhumance, activities that have shaped the surrounding landscape of pastures, plateaus and open valleys. These elements are still visible today and represent a fundamental part of the territory's identity.
Walking through its streets, you can sense an authentic dimension, far from the frenetic pace of modernity. Here, the silence of the mountains, the wind that blows through the alleys, and the view of the Gran Sasso create a unique atmosphere.
As a narrative country of Gran Sasso, Carapelle Calvisio represents one of the most authentic places in inland Abruzzo, where visitors can rediscover the value of slowness and encounters with local communities.
