Silvio Salvatore Sarra Foundation

The main purpose of the Silvio Salvatore Sarra Foundation is to protect, preserve and disseminate the culture and traditions of Civitaretenga and Navelli.
Since 2010, it has managed the “Sala dei Ricordi” (Hall of Memories) museum area, dedicated to the two activities that characterised the rural development of the Navelli area: sheep farming and saffron cultivation. The museum takes the form of a historical overview centred around the figure of Silvio Sarra, who saved saffron production by setting up the Coop. Altopiano di Navelli.
In recent years, the Foundation's activities have centred on the Convent of St. Anthony and its Hostel on the Tratturo, making it its stronghold for cultural activities proposed such as “Vivi il Tratturo” (Live the Tratturo), in the summer (activities to rediscover the Centurelle-Montesecco sheep-track), but also in the autumn, offering initiatives aimed at those who wish to discover the saffron harvest through experiences that involve them in the discovery of this fascinating production.
